Report on BS 8580 “Risk Assessments for Legionella Control Event of 8th April 2010 at SCI

Each registered delegate received an electronic copy of the draft standard before the event to allow time to study the 41 page document. This event was intended firstly to present a background to the development of the BS 8580 standard. Then secondly to encourage frank open discussion of the document. The background was given as short presentations by eight experts on all aspects of the standard and this was followed by the open discussion session. The feedback from delegates will supplement the documented returns from the public comment stage of the standardisation process. Maximising feedback is considered to be a vital step in the document development prior to the publication of this very important standard.

There was excellent audience participation throughout the event and especially in the final discussion session. The event was over-subscribed and the large number of delegates who remained to the end of the discussion at ~17-00 hours bears testimony to the interest generated. All presentations are available for download together with a summary of the key points and issues raised during the discussion.
